Strategic Issue: To provide education and culturally specific information to the Latino community in the Village of Woodridge. This is accomplished through

  • promotion of available resources

  • increasing the awareness of their own personal safety

  • addressing the cultural differences in our community thereby contributing to changing unsafe behaviors.

Strategy: To actively pursue technology and programs that will assist Coalition members to promote the available resources of their respective agencies for the educational betterment of the community.

1)  With our partnerships, promote our available resources throughout the community so as to permit residents to take advantage of the educational opportunities that are offered.

 

Performance Indicators:

 

·         Analyze available resources of agency partners

·         Study and compare past responses of individual agency programs

·         Increased requests from the community

·         Investigate funding mechanisms

·         Through our sources of communications, inform the community of the benefits that the Coalition offers

Strategic Issue:    Build internal support from the respective member agencies and organizations by conducting in-house awareness classes in conjunction with the Director of Latino Affairs  and the coalition’s community leader(s)

Strategy:   Host combined awareness and orientation training for all member agency chairs with the Director of Latino Affairs

1) Bring together all critical agencies to participate in a comprehensive training and awareness that will educate the participants to the cultural uniqueness of the Latino community.

Performance Indicators:

 

·         Invite OSFM Director of Latino Affairs to lead a multi-agency educational program

·         Establish a Mission and Vision Statement for the Coalition.

Strategic Issue:  Gain internal agency organizational support and awareness from our coalition’s “non  - bi-lingual, bi-cultural” members.

Strategy:   Agency chairs should promote internal awareness and orientation training for their own   member organizations.

1)  Change the perception that the Latino community represents a disproportionate burden on our agencies.

 

2) Stop single interest that hamper the ability for member organizations to promote necessary expanded minority education.

·         Through the Coalition Leaders and Agency Chairs, conduct in-house seminars and training services in diversity awareness.

·         Maintain and enhance our communication links with our members that will keep them informed on current and emerging issues.
