Fire District ISO Rating

The Insurance Services Office (ISO) has recently completed an analysis of the structural fire suppression delivery systems provided within the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District. According to Fire Chief Tom Freeman the Fire District Public Protection Classification has been maintained at Class 1. This is the best classification awarded by the ISO. This classification applies to all properties protected by the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District in the Village of Lisle, the Village of Woodridge, and Lisle, DuPage and Milton Townships in DuPage and Will counties.

ISO is the leading supplier of data and analytics for the property/casualty insurance industry. Insurers use the Public Protection Classifications (PPC) for underwriting and calculating premiums for residential, commercial and industrial properties. ISO’s staff collects information about municipal fire suppression efforts in communities throughout the United States.

The analysis resulted in higher scores and credits given to the various components of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District evaluation than in previous surveys conducted by the ISO. The Fire Suppression Rating Schedule reviews engine and ladder service fire companies, the equipment carried, responses to fires, training, and number of available firefighters.

Given the close scrutiny to detail of the ISO and its regular re-survey program of over 44,000 communities across the country, Chief Freeman, on behalf of the Board of Trustees and Fire Commissioners, indicated that the maintenance of the prestigious ISO Class 1 is “a significant accomplishment of which the residents and property owners of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District can be proud.”
