Family Saved by a CO Detector

The Lisle Woodridge Fire District responded recently to a single family residence within our fire district for an activated CO Detector. While many of these calls are routine, this call was not. Within the residence the fire department also recorded a high CO level on our monitor. NICOR was called out to address the situation and found two faulty connections in the exhaust pipe for the furnace. Ironically the resident was a furnace repair technician. Without the working CO detector in the residence we most likely would have had a different and deadly outcome to this event. Because of a working CO detector there was no loss of life.

CO DETECTORS SAVE LIVES. Do not forget to check your batteries in your CO and Smoke detectors  when you change your clock. If you need assistance please call the Lieutenant Jay Caron, Public Education Officer at the Lisle Woodridge Fire Prevention Bureau 630-353-3059.
