Spring Cleanup Event

In the springtime, many homes will begin the ritual of cleaning up the house and garage. That means filling the garbage can with last year’s projects and chemicals. There is an alternative however: Recycle.

For last year’s projects, the Village of Lisle, DuPage County and Benedictine University will host the “Sustainable Saturday Event”. This is a special drop off recycling event on Saturday March 28th.from 8am to 1pm. At the event they will accept Electronics, Ink Jet Cartridges, Eye Glasses, Hearing Aids, Cellular Phones, Bicycles, and Scrap Metal. Sealed Lead Acid Batteries will be accepted and should be safely placed into the vehicle last so that upon arrival at the event, specially trained technicians can remove them from your car. Up to three small boxes per vehicle of paper will also be accepted for shredding; however no other Hazardous Waste will be accepted. The event will be located in the parking lot of the Dan and Ada Rice Center at 5700 College Road in Lisle. Please enter off Maple Avenue.

For hazardous waste, the City of Naperville hosts a Household Hazardous Waste Collection Facility open to residents of DuPage County. The location of the center is at 1979 Brookdale Road in Naperville and is open from 9am to 2pm Saturdays and Sundays. Acceptable items and information can be found on the City of Naperville Website. www.naperville.il.us

Residents of the Lisle-Woodridge Fire District are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to get rid of that old junk that is cluttering your home. You will feel better and so will the environment if we recycle and not just throw things in the garbage can.

For more information on this or any other fire prevention issue, contact the Lisle-Woodridge Fire Prevention Bureau at 630-353-3030.
