The Lisle-Woodridge Fire Protection District’s Fire
Investigation Unit is committed to its Mission Statement "Upholding the
Legal Responsibility as Outlined in State Statutes for Determination of the
Cause and Origin of Each Fire". Through the dedication, education and
experience of each investigator, our mission is achieved. This is what makes our
Fire Investigation Unit team successful.
The concept of the Fire Investigation Unit is not only to
investigate after an incident occurs but, also, to take a pro-active stance
before an incident happens. Through pre-planning, product information
recall/safety notices, tracking, surveillance and various other methods, this
pro-active stance benefits our community in the area of fire prevention.
Our goals for the year are mutual involvement with the DuPage County
Arson Task Force, revision of the Standard Operating Guidelines, establishing a
computerized reporting system, initiating quarterly drills for all District
members, holding a "live burn" training specifically designed for all
fire and police investigators, acknowledging and supporting the "National
Arson Awareness Campaign", gaining Peace Officer status for Team members
and hosting a demonstration of the "flashover" phenomenon for F.A.S.T
training and community.
